Greatstar's dominance as North America's top-3 hardware seller on Amazon represented significant e-commerce success, but 2024 brought new challenges as platform compression intensified and traditional Amazon-centric strategies reached efficiency limits. The company needed to diversify beyond Amazon's ecosystem while maintaining its multi-brand portfolio strategy that covered different consumer segments through premium WORKPRO and value-focused Goldblatt brands.
Our strategy centered on building TikTok as a primary growth channel through authentic creator partnerships and precision targeting that could replicate Amazon's conversion efficiency in a content-driven environment. Rather than treating TikTok as supplementary social media, we developed comprehensive content-to-commerce pathways that connected tool demonstrations, project tutorials, and professional endorsements directly to purchase intent. This required building entirely new creative frameworks that translated hardware functionality into engaging video content.
Implementation emphasized KOC (Key Opinion Consumer) seeding combined with systematic audience development across professional tradesman, DIY enthusiast, and casual user segments. We created quarterly workshop training programs for Greatstar's e-commerce teams, ensuring internal capabilities matched the sophistication of multi-platform content marketing. This approach included developing custom training materials that addressed the unique challenges of hardware marketing in short-form video environments.
The transformation enabled Greatstar to break through conversion bottlenecks that had constrained growth within Amazon's increasingly competitive marketplace. By establishing authentic presence on TikTok while maintaining Amazon performance, Greatstar achieved sustainable diversification that protected against platform dependency while opening new customer acquisition pathways that traditional hardware marketing had not previously accessed.
